There are no railway stations in Leh. Kalka station in Jammu is the nearest station.
By Roadway
Two high-altitude roads connect Leh to the rest of India, namely National Highway 1D from Srinagar and the Leh-Manali highway from Manali. Jammu & Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) and Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), operate a number of buses from Srinagar and Manali respectively. Private buses can also be availed from these regions. Although buses serve an economical way of transport, you can also avail the luxury of a private taxi, if you are willing to spend a little more.
